I went to this lovely establishment for breakfast with my beautiful girlfriend. We both ordered the cleverly named “Not so English breakfast” and the breakfast dishes come with free coffee so I was very happy.

We were served by Kamva, he was absolutely amazing and attentive. He recommended the breakfast item since I was so hungry, the food came out quite quickly, it was presented quite nicely on these rustic plates. I started attacking my plate and the food disappeared in no time. It comes with so much goodness, my favourite part was making my own breakfast wrap with all the ingredients.

It was such an amazing experience with the food, the service, the music and the kind faces. Were definitely coming back and recommending to everyone we know 🤞🏿

Mexican food is one of my favorites and I hardly pass up an opportunity to try the cuisine whenever I get a chance. There are some bigger name venues in more trendy locations within Cape Town, and having tried a few of them I can say that Mexicola is delivering the best flavors across all the dishes. Some exceptional, some just good, but nothing here is below average. Every dish will surprise you. Pictures do not do the plates justice.

Have a look at my bill to see how many dishes I sampled. Prices are quite low for the food standard too. You could easily pay double this in Cape Town.

Note they serve Se Busca mezcal here at a reasonable price, and gladly mixed mezcal margaritas for me.

Kamva was an excellent server! He went out of his way to make us bloody Mary’s (not on the menu) from scratch!!! I’m talking cooking tomatoes and jalapeños, blending and straining them! Who does that?! Absolutely incredible service.

Outstanding. Warm and friendly service, excellent food, quaint and warm interior that was the perfect backdrop for an excellent night with friends drinking & eating. The food is absolutely exceptional and for the three of us we simply kept ordering 2 dishes at a time until we could barely move... the staff gave wonderful recommendations and for the 2 of us that hate coriander, they chuckled & made sure the devils lettuce didn't come near our dishes. We will all be back and we will share stories of a perfect little restaurant to all that will listen.

Absolutely incredible food and vibes! The venue is modern and spacious and the staff make you feel so welcome as soon as you walk in. We had the most incredible frozen pineapple margaritas (would absolutely recommend!) to start our meal off and shared some appetizers that were fresh and delicious.

The nachos were my absolute favorite, super flavorful without being too spicy and it was a generous portion. If you're looking for a chilled spot, with excellent drinks and delicious food I would highly recommend visiting Mexicola Locale!

Can’t fault anything.
We went for a Saturday lunch, so it was understandably quiet- this has the potential for guests to receive substandard food and absent-minded service.

Not a chance, we were greeted at the door with a smile and said we could sit anywhere, all staff smiled and greeted as we walked outside.

We had a pineapple margarita and a virgin raspberry margarita, both recommended by our waiter and both were great.

To start we had a pork taco and a beef taco. For our next round we had the cauliflower and the wings.

Big smiles from the staff when we ordered and super confident that we had ordered a good selection.

Tacos first- wow- both tasted unique, both fresh and zesty with just the right amount of heat.
For me, the fact that the soft taco did not taste like a store bought wrap (as they do in other establishments!) was a relief. I am yet to have the replicated taste and texture of a genuine soft taco in RSA, but this one was tops.

The wings were massive, again fresh and alive with flavour.
However, the cauliflower… whoever can take a ‘bland’ veggie like a cauli- and make it taste like that and present it so well, knows their stuff- well done guys. Top marks for the mole sauce, well done for precooking the rawness out, yet keeping the texture. Honestly, for a person who eats meat twice a day, that cauli was out of the top drawer. Whoever reads this, do yourself a favour and order this first and base your other decisions around it!

Really cool space, super friendly staff and the most delicious pineapple margaritas! The food is delicious and it’s an excellent place for big groups and events.

I recently had one of the most unforgettable date nights at Mexicola with my amazing girlfriend💚🌻, and wow. This place is something special! From the moment we arrived, the vibrant energy and colorful charm had us completely hooked. The ambience was electric yet cozy, with every corner of the space showcasing intricate details and bold design🤞🏿. The painted exterior is absolutely stunning. It’s like walking into a work of art. It’s a mural of cactus plants and flowers and they have an intricate mural around their logo.

The interior is just as breathtaking, full of personality and rich cultural vibes. They have paintings and trinkets and hidden Easter eggs everywhere. It’s absolutely gorgeous 🤭My girlfriend loved every detail.

The food was an explosion of flavour😩authentic, bold, and beautifully plated. Every bite was chef’s kiss perfection. The service was warm, genuine, and made us feel right at home. Huge love to the chefs, who not only cook with passion, but radiate kindness and joy while doing it. Mexicola gave us way more than a meal. It gave us a whole vibe, a moment to remember, and a night we’ll keep talking about. Can’t wait to go back! 10/10 for the flavors, the energy, and the experience.

From the moment we walked in, the warm atmosphere and friendly staff made us feel welcome. The Chicken Taquitos dish was absolutely delicious, with perfectly balanced flavors and fresh ingredients. Our server, Alex, was attentive and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations.The overall dining experience was fantastic, and I would definitely return.

I’ve been wanting to try out this restaurant for ages but have been hesitant because it looked small and super rustic but I can’t wait to go back! The definition of don’t judge a book by its cover. The staff were so warm and welcoming and I would go back just to visit them. The food was DELICIOUS- every item was full of flavour and it really beats any previous Mexican restaurant I’ve gone to. Definitely give it a visit this winter 🩷🩷🩷
